Most of us want to lose weight and almost every one of us wants to lose it effortlessly and quickly. The trend of fast and quick weight loss has given birth to weight loss pills and fad diets. Though these pills and fad diets provide short-term solution but in long run weight loss pills and fad diets can have severe effects in our health and body.

People get lured by the tall claims of pill and fad diet. You can easily lose some 10-12 pound with the help of fad diet but these weight are tend to bounce back, as dieter goes back to their regular eating habit. Fad diet fails to teach you what to eat and how to eat in order to lose weight permanently.

Fad and crash diets focus just on rapid weight loss and close the eyes to the important principle of slow and steady weight loss. Fad diets often lead to weakness, lack of energy, fatigue and other diseases that can cause damage to our body. People generally tend to pick fad diet to lose weight rapidly but they also tend to dump such diet due to fatigue, boredom, taste fatigue, gain back weight then again return to the diet. Such drastic fluctuation in weight acts as an added stress on body, which is even worse than being obese and overweight.

Weight loss experts, physicians and dietitians are really concerned about these unhealthy ways of weight loss for many reasons. For one, crash and fad diets lay emphasis on unhealthy and unbalanced diet. If these diets are followed for longer period of time then dieters can cause some severe harm to their body.

Weight reduction is a gradual process and needs time. It is a matter for personal medical advice. One may be obese or overweight due to different reasons. He can be overweight due to over eating or due to certain disease such as thyroid or diabetes. However, in either case he needs a medical treatment.

Before analyzing a patient for weight loss, physicians consider several factors apart from health status such as age, gender, body size, height, etc. In fact, metabolic rate, eating habit of an individual, fat to muscle ratio is also considered by physician before counseling for weight loss.

With the help of this information, the physician or weight loss expert or dietician is able to recommend patient the healthy and effective way to lose weight.

It’s very important to understand that weight loss takes time and rapid weight loss diets and pill are not effective in long run. The only effective and sure shot way of losing weight is through healthy diet and regular exercise.

You have to burn more calories then you have consumed to lose weight. So consume fewer calories and burn more of them to lose weight. Adopt healthy ways to lose weight and as far as possible stay away from fad diets and weight loss pills.
