Weight Management for Women in Middle Age
If you are about to touch 40, you would notice some difference in your weight gain trend. Till now it might have been easy or a little tough for you to lose those excess pounds but now the picture will change drastically.
If you are carrying that extra weight now and think you would lose it in due time you should realize that weight loss would be 10 times more tough to lose weight once your reach 50’s.
If you have maintained your weight till now and you don’t have to lose it, great for you but just try and maintain the desired weight level as you wouldn’t notice and can gain weight within no time, so be happy and maintain your weight. Avoid smoking, alcohol, maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
You need to realize the same and get into some planning, you would be ahead of women your age because at least you know where you stand and the dangers that are in store for you in future, make sure how you need to tackle with these problems sensibly. Knowledge is good but is just the beginning, you should take steps to tackle present or future weight problem.
Petite women tend to ignore the weight problem and think they can’t gain weight like others do, but their faith is shattered once they reach mid 40’s and 50’s when they start gaining weight.
At around early 40’s or late 30’s your body starts to record hormonal changes and incline you to gain weight without increase in the number of calories you have, your physical activity might also become less at this point, besides your metabolism also reduces considerably.
Personally many women go through a lot of stress during this time tackling family, children, career etc.
Solutions
Reduce your calorie intake by 100 calories a day; this won’t be difficult as 100 calories isn’t too hard to reduce. You can cut down sugar, colas, alcohol, your creamy cup of tea etc.
You should lose 100 extra calories a day by taking stairs instead of elevators, walking an extra mile, dancing for 15-20 minutes, running around with kids.
Take on 5-6 mini-meals a day remain healthy. This would keep you away from feeling famished while the few mega meals you consume. This would also keep your energy and metabolism high, keeping you kicking and healthy.
Don’t skip breakfast, it is the most important meal of the day and will help you rise your metabolism during the hour your really need to feel alive in the morning.
Try and eat nothing after 8:00 pm, this way once you get up in the morning you would feel hungry and ready for a nice breakfast.
Having an early dinner might tempt you to have late night snacks, avoid this at all cost, it would be difficult initially but once you get into a habit of the same.
Don’t shy away from lifting weight, many women tend to ignore this tip but this would appear very helpful as it would help you maintain a toned and tight body, you won’t have the problem of loosening your skin around your arms and legs which is common for women in their 40’s and 50’s
