Being overweight and growing old both cause a lot of health problems. And when both these issues arise together they can lead to grave health problems like diabetes, heart problems, high blood sugar and cholesterol etc.
We have heard more than once that carrying excess weight on our body is an invitation to a whole lot of health related risks. Seniors of elderly people find it more difficult to fight the bulge as their metabolism also decreases to a great extent with age, our lifestyle becomes such that we become less active and more sedentary.
Our calorie burn capacity also varies. If someone in his mid-20s performs a workout s/he will burns significantly higher number of calories vis-a-vie those who are in their 60’s.
There has been such an extensive research done on weight loss and fitness that there is over load of information. Available on the internet, books, libraries etc. This can be extremely confusing at times as we get confused and don’t know what is good for us.
The best way to know what is right for you is to take expert advice. What might work for you, might not work for someone else. Before starting your diet and exercise it is mandatory for you to consult a physician.
You might be on some kind of medication, because of other problems related to old age. Make sure you discuss all these things with your physician before initiating your diet or exercise program. You should stay completely away from any sought of crash diets or weight loss medicines as these are bound to have adverse affect on your health.
You can give the following diets a try:
