Weight Gain in Babies
When a baby is born all that people notice is whether the baby is healthy or not. Parents of the child don’t give any significance if they see their baby gaining weight rapidly.
In fact there are a lot of people who want their babies to look fat as babies tend to look cuter that way. But the reality is that even babies suffer from weight gain and if the problem is not looked at immediately then the child can face some serious medical complications on reaching adulthood.
There have been researches in the past that have shown that babies who gain a lot of weight after five months are likely to suffer from high blood pressure in their adulthood. It is believed that babies who generally gain weight after five months of their birth and from age 2 to 5 years are likely to have high systolic blood pressure in their adulthood. Systolic blood pressure refers to the blood pressure in the arteries. This can even prove fatal for a child’s health. Therefore it only states that rapid increase in weight gain in babies cannot be taken lightly.
Such babies are likely to suffer from obesity and many other ailments on reaching adulthood. Therefore it is important for parents to check if there has been an abnormal weight gain in their children. Most parents ignore it because like others they want their baby to look cute and chubby all the time. But chubbiness and cuteness are not factors that determine whether your baby is healthy or not.
As long as your baby can see, hear properly and is able to do other things normally as they grow up a parent should not be worried. But it is important for parents to acknowledge that there is problem like weight gain which can occur in babies as well. That is because once they acknowledge the problem they will start doing something about it as well.
