Weekly Meal Planning Tips

People who are on a diet or want to initiate one should stick to planning your weekly meals on the weekend itself. The reasons for suggesting to plan are many, for instance you won’t lose focus on your diet, you won’t get into unhealthy snacking, and you wouldn’t spend time planning your daily meals since you have already done that.

It becomes really essential for you to get involved in planning your meals if you are following your personal diet and not consulting a dietician. You should have the details of every meal of the week jotted down, so that you don’t loiter as far as your diet is concerned.

Mentioned below are some tips that you should follow when you plan your weekly meals, these will help you in your struggle to lose weight.

Tip # 1 – Make sure you always have a guide to nutrition handy, this can be in form of a book or online, this guide should contain the number of calories a particular dish contain besides other nutritional information, make sure when you go grocery shopping or eating out; you refer to this dieter’s bible. This would help you keep on track and make sure you aren’t having too much or too little food.

Tip # 2 – You also have to maintain a progress chart, this can again be online or you can opt for a diet diary. These days the online options available are so good, they help you track your calorie intake, plan your meal, exercise, weight etc. It also helps you adjust the coming week’s plan based on the present week’s progress.

Tip # 3 – Next time when you go for your weekly grocery shopping, make sure you carry a shopping list which can be prepared beforehand. This would make you choose healthy stuff, wouldn’t lead you into impulse buying and will save on a lot of time. You should only buy the things listed in the grocery list.

Tip # 4 – Besides having a nutritional guide you should also try and understand the basic nutritional needs of your body. You can follow the food pyramid, while some people say food pyramid doesn’t guide you enough about nutrition, it can definitely bring you on the right track and give you a direction. You should also be aware of the portion or serving size of each meal.

Tip # 5 – Last but certainly not the least, if you don’t have the will and determination to follow your weekly diet plan you aren’t ready for success. Even if you have planned your meal very carefully, it wouldn’t be helpful if you aren’t determined to follow it.
