September 15, 2009
Weight loss is never very easy and requires a lot of determination and strict discipline. More than all this it is essential to have your basics in place and always stick to them.
The chief principle of weight loss is that you need to burn more calories than you consume. It might sound very easy but it isn’t so. What you require is lots of planning; make sure you keep these tips in mind:
-The goals that you set for yourself should be realistic and attainable.
-Make sure you consume the required amount of calories, and it is extremely critical to keep a track of your diet.
-Make sure you maintain a food diary of what and how much you want to eat, so that you are aware of your eating patterns.
Try the following tips to lose weight effectively:
1. Make sure you know your perfect and ideal weight: Check your body mass index and see whether your body frame falls in small, medium or large. Once you have analyzed the same you need to decide on your ideal weight. Make sure your ideal weight doesn’t change with growing age.
2. Know how many calories you need to eat on a daily basis not to gain weight: If your activity levels are moderate you’d need around 15 calories for each pound to sustain your weight. The calorie requirement would be more if you get into demanding regular physical activity, the requirement would be lesser if you are less active. All you need to do is multiply your current weight with 15, and you would get the required number of calories which you need to eat daily to maintain your weight.
3. If your aim is losing weight, know how many calories you need to lose: Around 3500 calories are stored as fat for each pound in your body. If your aim is to lose a pound in a week, you need to reduce 500 less calories every day.
4. Make sure you decide how many pounds you want to lose and by when: You need to mark the date on the calendar, as you regularly track your progress. Make sure you break these goals into smaller goals.
5. As and when you achieve your smaller gaols make sure you treat yourself.
