The Problem of Childhood Obesity
People don’t realise but gradually childhood obesity has become one of the biggest health threats in the world; with around 25 million children (between the age of 2-19) becoming prone to this disease in US alone. That makes one out of every three children in the nation overweight.
This count will keep on rising if we don’t handle the issue with care. The cure is thankfully easier than you think. You don’t need to put these kids on a strict diet and you shouldn’t ask them to follow an hour a day workout rule. Kids thankfully have higher metabolism than adults and if they eat healthy and stay active through the day, childhood obesity can be tackled with. The best way is to lead by example and in doing this you would also start leading a healthier and fitter life.
Mentioned below are some ways which can be used to keep your children on the move.
Ask them to help you do the chores: Get their room if not the entire house organized. You can give them something special whenever they help you out. The kids will be more than happy doing the chores and will burn calories washing the dishes, vacuuming or tidying their den.
Don’t encourage them to be indoors: It is extremely essential for kids (like it is for us) to play in the outdoors. Whenever the weather is warm and nice ask them to go out and play, you can also request them to give you a hand in the lawn or garden.
Healthy Eating Habits: Make sure you keep your kids informed about the importance of healthy eating, also stuff a lot of healthy snack and meal options in your kitchen and refrigerator, so that the children have no option but to eat healthy.
It is equally critical to teach you kids the importance of healthy diet. Make sure they eat a healthy lunch in school. If they buy their lunch at school itself, make sure they choose healthy options. It is easier.
