Staying Fit at Work
You might feel staying fit at work doesn’t really work. If you incorporate some these fitness tips, it will help you remain active.
Commuting to work:
Try to walk or ride a bike to work as far as possible. If not the complete stretch you can cover a part of the distance walking or biking. This will not only increase the amount of calories you burn, it would also reduce the amount you spend on petrol/gasoline, besides it is also good for the environment.
Park a few blocks away:
Park your car as far as possible from work instead of choosing the closest space. When you walk to work and back to the parking lot speed up your pace and increase your heart rate. These small tips result in weight loss and better cardiovascular health.
Carry/Keep hand weights in your cubical/cabin if possible:
If you have a private space you can take some time out for doing exercise. Even if you indulge in five minutes of upper body workout, it would result in toned muscle, building lean body mass and high metabolism.
Take the stairs:
This is a sure-shot way to increase you health level and reduce weight. If you work in a high rise building you can cover half the distance using the elevators and the rest by taking stairs
Take advantage of your lunch hour: Choose a café which serves healthy stuff and walk to the café.
Avoid caffeine:
Coffee can be addictive and is loathed with calories. Try herbal tea or black coffee instead. Still better opt for plain/chilled water throughout the day.
Get involved in office activities:
Put together volleyball or any sports team with your office mates and play in the evenings. You can also start a yoga club, reach office 15-30 minutes before the office hours and involve in a yoga session.
It’s not difficult to stick to at least 4 of these practices and make them a part of your office routine.
