Reasons Why Diets Fail
July 10, 2009
Have you even wondered that despite religiously following your diet, you are still not able to lose weight? You have completely stopped eating unhealthy, fatty or junk food and eat only what has been recommended to you and still there is hardly any change in weight.
Well this may happen and in fact it happens to almost every one who tries to shed that extra pounds. Here are few causes of failure in weight loss diet.
Reason #1: Something is missing: If you are following a diet that eliminates an entire food group (like proteins, carbohydrates, etc.) and not leveraging a full spectrum of choices of food, then there may be changes that we may reach to plateau soon. It’s highly recommended not to eliminate any food group completely. A good and successful diet is one, which allows choices and verities from all types of food groups, and it should be planned in such a way that one can easily follow that particular weight loss diet plan in long run.
Reason #2: Going Low: If you think that fewer intakes of calories is good for you and will help you immensely in loosing weight, then that’s not the case. If you take fewer calories, you will feel hungry very often, this will not only blow your will power but will make any food very tempting to you and eventually you will end up eating more. A good diet always allows you to take the sufficient amount of calories that your body needs. Moreover, having less than 1200 calories in a day is for a longer period is not an excellent idea because this will not able to provide your body the required nutrients that actually your body need to function properly.
Reason #3: No exercise: If you want to lose weight just with the help of your diet program and don’t want to undertake any form of exercises then you may hit plateau very soon. For any weight loss program, diet and exercise goes hand on hand. Adding exercise may motivate you to stick to your diet, even on the days when you lose minimum weight, as exercise can help you to lose off the inches. Exercise also helps you to burn calories faster, increase metabolic rate and further helps you to cut down your weight faster as compared to diet alone. Many researches has indicated that a successful weigh loss program incorporate both exercise and diet.
Reason #4: Friend and relatives: Many studies have indicated that your diet plan and weight management gets influenced by the friends and relatives you have. Suppose, you have a set of friends who are overweight or obese, they have their own sets of eating habits and if you are always surrounded by them then you may also consider their eating habits as normal. When you are on weight loss program and religiously want to follow your diet regime, in that case try to keep yourself away from people who have unhealthy eating habits.
