Obesity And Heart Disease

Heart diseases among obese people are a quite common problem. Some people may ask of curiosity that what the relation between the heart disease and obesity is. Here is the simple answer. The obese person possesses more mass as compared to a fit person, due to excess of fat in the body.

The heart has to work more and with more force so as to pump the blood through the body. The strain is often multiplied when the obese person starts performing strenuous tasks. Very often the blood flow to the heart becomes too much to handle and this leads to over exertion of heart and leads to smaller life of heart.

A second problem is the precipitation of heart diseases in obese people. More fat in the body leads to higher cholesterol levels. This cholesterol deposits on the inner walls of arteries. The fat deposits of cholesterol reduce the internal diameter of arteries. The heart has to work more forcefully in such cases.

Thus we see that in these cases heart has to work more for the reasons attributed above. This also increases the demand oxygen. Heart is also an organ and requires oxygen to replenish the energy it needs. When heart is overworked the oxygen supply is not fulfilled and this leads to weakening of heart muscles and sometimes even death of parts of muscle.

The eating habits of people have changed a lot across the globe. The use of cereals has declined while there is increase in consumption of fat, sugars and junk foods. These food items contribute to increase in the levels of Low Density Lipoproteins (also called as bad fat) and decline the level of High-Density Lipoproteins (also called as good fat). They are not easily metabolized and are often deposited in various parts of body, leading to obesity. Comes with these associated problems of deposition in arteries and overexertion of heart.

Obesity levels have risen a lot all across the globe and so has the incidence of heart diseases. Also statistics have shown a high degree of correlation between the two problems.

It is very important for us to contain the obesity levels and this will help us to secure a healthy and better life.
