Lose Weight With Grapefruit Diet

Grapefruit diet is based on the fact that the base fruit has fat burning properties. Grapefruit diet is generally lasts for 12 days.

However, if someone wants to continue the diet then one should take at least 2 days off before doing so. Although there is no concrete evidence that can substantiate the fact the grapefruit helps in weight loss, but there are many people who have witnessed weight loss with the help of grapefruit diet. Recently, Grapefruit diet has gain popularity within weight loss experts and dieters. Many products have also launched in the market based on grapefruit to lose weight.

What is allowed and what is not allowed under Grapefruit diet

In a grapefruit diet, meals are generally accompanied with grapefruit. Under this diet, it is recommended to have plenty of water, say around 8-10 glasses of water, in conjunction with unrestricted amount of black coffee. Grapefruit diet puts restrictions on consumption of complex carbohydrates, so one should completely avoid foods that are rich in Carbohydrate. Having snacks in between meals is also restricted in this diet. On the other hand, grapefruit diet encourages consumption of almost every type vegetables and you can even cook these vegetables in as much butter as you want.

Typical daily meals on the Grapefruit Diet

While undergoing grapefruit diet you can have wide variety of food, just make sure that these foods are less on carbohydrates. In a breakfast you can have half a grapefruit, bacon, eggs, whole wheat bread, yogurt, and fruit juice or tea and coffee to drink. In lunch and dinner you can have one whole grapefruit, you can have chicken and vegetable salads, or you can even opt for meat of any amount and style.

Calorie intake of Grapefruit diet is very low

One of the major reasons that an individual following grapefruit diet would witness success over a short period of time is owing to the very low calorie content. Depending on person to person, the calorie content in this diet can be as low as to be inadequate for basic requirement. Many people who have followed this diet have seen a tremendous weight loss whilst many people have also reported upset stomach, dizziness possible due to blend of so little food with so much coffee. Its always recommended to consult an expert before taking up this diet.
