Laxatives
Laxative is one of the most common things that people resort to for losing weight. But what most of them don’t see is the danger that laxatives cause to a person’s health.
Laxative is actually a pill or a liquid that is mostly taken by people suffering from eating disorders. What laxatives do is that it motivates the bowel system to empty itself after the food has been absorbed by the body. People take laxatives to lose weight because laxatives cause the body to lose a lot of water which is later followed by water retention and sensation of being full.
The various problems that prolonged use of laxatives can cause to the body are as follows: dehydration, bloating, cramping, poor heart beat, heart attack, renal problems and so on. People can slowly get addicted to using laxatives and then making them to get rid of it is quite a difficult task. Laxatives cause this vomiting sensation where the person forcefully throws the food out that had been taken just sometime back.
People who are extremely cautious of their weight and those who are always counting the number of calories that they have taken are the ones who are more prone to use laxatives for losing weight. Also people who neither have the energy nor the time to do some physical activities or exercises are the ones most likely to use laxatives for weight loss.
Those who have been using laxatives for quite a long time may sometimes find it extremely difficult to recover from their condition. Some of them start suffering from withdrawal symptoms where the person gets mood swings, constipation, cramping, bloating sensation etc after they stop using laxatives. However those who have not been dependant on laxatives for a long time may find it easier than the former group to recover from their condition. Thus it is considered best to seek the help of a doctor before matters turn worse.
