How to Lose Water Weight

Water weight refers to a condition in which the body retains water for one reason or another resulting in a swollen up and bloated appearance. The swelling can occur anywhere in the body but is mostly noticed at the wrists, ankles and feet.
Many times it goes unnoticed creating a false illusion of weight gain. Since our bodies are more than 70% water, the swelling doesn’t appear entirely unnaturally and thus is mistaken as putting on excess weight. Dehydration is seen as the main cause that leads the body retaining water.

As ironic as it might seem, the best way to lose water weight is to drink more water. The only reason your body retains water is because of insufficient hydration; it fears running out of water and retains as much as possible.

The best way to avoid such a situation is to remain constantly hydrated throughout the day by drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water at equal time periods. This not only avoids water retention but also helps keep the body look healthy.

In order to lose water weight, the same principle of constant hydration needs to be followed. The best way to achieve this is by carrying a refillable container of water around. This makes water always available so you are never thirsty.

It must however be kept in mind that it is essential to drink water even without feeling thirsty. Thirst is just a way of your body telling you that it is very near to being dehydrated and thus must be avoided.

Although it might seem impossible at first, it is entirely essential to consume water throughout the day even without feeling thirsty, even more so when your body is retaining water.

In order to do so you can add a dash of lime to the water, making consumption easier. Do however try and avoid adding too much sugar as sugar is a very strong dehydrating agent and might negate all the efforts put in by you to drink excess water in the first place.

Also following low sodium diets help in shedding off the water weight faster. Sodium and water retention goes hand in hand. It makes the body absorb and retain more water than is needed.
