How to Handle Cheating While You Diet
October 27, 2009
Diet Rule#1: Eat 5-6 Mini Meals:
Preparing 3 meals in a day and taking out time to eat them is a problem; eating 5-6 meals would be even tougher. Studies also show people start eating 5-6 meals in a day but they don’t keep a track of how much and what to eat. This creates a problem and people (especially women) tend to put on weight instead of losing it. You should know the right way to eat 5-6 meals. This plan works because it curbs hunger pangs. If you eat fibre rich food especially for breakfast it would help keep you full and keep you away from overeating. You should have lots of fruits and veggies in your diet as well especially during snacks. For lunch and dinner eat lean protein, carbs and vegetable.
Diet Rule#2: Avoid any white food (rice, bread or pasta):
People raised on a diet of pastas and rice can’t just give up having these; even if they try. Their diet isn’t complete without these products. Research also shows that people who had healthy carbs (whites included) tend to be slimmer than those who completely avoid processed food. Right way to do it is that 6 ounce of carbs a day (at least ½ of it from whole grain). The other portion or a cup full can be of refined/processed carbs. If one cup is not good for you then you can add some lean protein to your carbs.
Diet Rule#3: Avoid Late Night Eating:
When you work and have a schedule in place, you can’t afford to have dinner before 6 pm, when you reach home at 9. The only reason that you should have an early dinner is that you can burn off the calories consumed easily. You should try and eat a healthy, filling snack around 4pm if you plan a late dinner. Avoid having dinner while watching TV/reading; in short, there shouldn’t be any distractions. You need to keep a count of your calories and your portion size.
Diet Rule#4: No Dessert:
If you crave for sweets and have a sweet tooth you would find it hard to avoid sweet for long. Desserts can be very high in calorie; if you want to eat sweet you should eat a kid’s size dessert to cut down the calories consumed. You can also try fruits and swap it with dessert.
