How To Beat Post Workout Hunger Pangs

Most of us feel very hungry after workout and apparently many of us tend to eat more and consume more calories than what we have actually burned by working out. You should eat to provide stamina and energy to your body and you shouldn’t hog.

Here are a few ways that may help you to tame the hunger pangs after working out:

Eat prudently: Try to eat consciously and intuitively till you are able to satisfy your hunger. Remember, do not over eat and have food to satisfy the hunger pangs. Best thing to do is to eat till you are 80 percent full. Apply this policy in your daily life and not just after your work out session as this will help you to keep slim and fit.

Eat good, stay fit: Make a conscious effort to have healthy food after your exercise session. Try to have liquid or solid meal as soon as you are through with your workout. Having a protein shake would be a good idea. Try to have around 0.25gram/pound of target weight of protein and approximately 0.5gram/pound of target weight of carbohydrates.

Having solid food works well, try to have tuna fish on whole-wheat bread or rice and chicken. Avoid food that are fried and laden with empty calories.  Many people feel nauseated if they try to have food soon after workout, so personal comfort level is important here.

Protein up: Try to have sufficient protein after working out as this will help in subsiding hunger pangs and also help you to consume less of calories. Have protein shake after workout, this will be great in controlling hunger pangs. Protein intake is anyhow important during and after workout so try to consume more of protein and less of calories. Try to keep your protein intake close to 1 gram/pound of targeted body weight.

Most importantly, watch your diet throughout the day. In the end, how much calories you have consumed will matter the most. Remember! You are working out to burn those extra calories, if you end up consuming the same amount of calories then your whole effort is in vain. Keeping a close tab will help you to consume fewer calories and more of vital nutrients that your body needs.
