High Protein Diet
You must have heard or tried different types of diets such as low-calories diet, low-carbohydrate diet, high mineral diet, high fibre diet, etc. These diets are good and help dieters to lose weight.
Well, there is another kind of diet that will for sure help you to lose weight and at the same time will provide vital nutrients to your body. This is High Protein diet. This diet is a classic bodybuilder’s diet, and has gained popularity among weight loss experts and dietitians owing to is property of increasing muscles tissue whilst cutting fat.
High Protein diet normally contains a gram of protein per pound of body mass. Few high protein diets also advise a percentage of total calories intakes of 30% or even more.
Why do we need more protein?
Like many other vital nutrients, protein is very vital to our body and its system. Higher amount of protein is required to develop muscles mass. It’s a well known fact that digestion of protein needs more energy which leads to burning of more calories and fat and eventually leading to natural weight loss.
Which Foods are rich in Protein?
There are many foods that are rich in protein and low in calories. You should ideally try to incorporate these foods into your regular diet. Some of the food that is rich in lean protein and low in fat are turkey and chicken, fish such as salmon and tuna, lean cuts of beef, low fat dairy products and cottage cheese, and egg whites. There are several protein powders which can be use as a supplement to these foods.
Risks of a High Protein Diet
There is a substantial dissimilarity of view surrounding the protein diet. On one hand nutritionists believe the diet is too high on protein and it leads to kidney stress, but there is small proof for this. Protein diet needs to be avoided if you suffer from kidney problems.
Some dieticians say having a large amount of protein might cause dehydration. As metabolism of protein needs more water than carbs and fats, so if on a protein diet you should have lots of water.
