Healthy Lunch Ideas

Many dieters lose hope mid way as they find diet food very bland and tasteless; another bunch loses their focus as there is lack of variety in diet food. Lunch is one of the main meals of the day and we hardly pack lunch as we prefer to order food at work itself.

This is extremely unhealthy, mentioned below are some great ideas for a healthy lunch which would give you around 400-450 calories. One very important thing that people miss out is balancing lunch and breakfast, if you have had a heavy breakfast; opt for a lighter lunch and vise versa. Your lunch should be rich in carbs and protein besides you should have calcium in one of your main meals if not both.

For lunch you can opt for a cup of soup (less than 100 calories) along with a cup full of celery or carrot sticks. You can choose between a cup of skimmed milk or unsweetened juice (with 100% fruit). If you have consumed less than 400 calories treat yourself with a cheese stick. Make sure the soup you have is broth based and is low on sodium, don’t add any crème to the soup. If you are having cheese sticks opt for the low calorie mozzarella one.

You can have a cup and a half of salad made of lettuce, tomato, 2 tbs of low fat salad dressing, pepper, onion, and you can even put a hardboiled egg. Have a cup of cottage cheese, along with any low calorie drink you like.

For the third option; have two slices of whole-wheat bread with some mustard sauce, baked chicken or turkey breast and a slice of low fat cheese. Have a small cup of skimmed milk along with this lunch option.

With the options given you can try permutation and combination to make your own meal. These options will keep you going till dinner, you might need a snack post your exercise. Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your metabolism high and for your system’s hydration.
