July 17, 2009
The party season is back. Party season means having a great time and great food, which means weight gain. It’s actually difficult to restrain yourself from eating that finger licking food.
Well, here are a few tips that can help you enjoy your party, have food and still look healthy and slim.
It’s just that you need to take care of few things.
Avoid going to any party when you are hungry:
It’s advisable to have something, at least half tummy full when you go to any party. When we go hungry to a party we often tend to eat more and also eat fast. Therefore have a good meal before the party so that you can avoid overeating at the party. Eat but don’t fill yourself up. If possible eat slowly as this will help you eat less.
Watch your portions:
Indulge yourself and treat yourself with a dessert, nice drink, sweet and chocolate without any guilt. However, watch your potion. Opt for smaller portion, this way you can have all different food served out in the party. If you opt for smaller can of a cola, you can save around 50 calories. So opt for smaller portion and enjoy the food.
Limit High fat food:
Consciously opt to avoid high fat food such as cream based soup, fried food, pies, pastries, baked goods, processed meat like sausages and salami. Just by avoiding these foods you can save calories, whilst you can enjoy other foods and drinks.
Try slimmer version of alcohol:
Try to avoid high calories drink. Instead of having a cider, beer, kahlua and bailey’s try dry bloody mary, wine or you can also try spirit with diet mixer that are low in calories. Calories derived from alcohol generally tend to get stored in the abdomen and that’s when we develop beer or pot belly. Overweight people tend to gain weight more easily when they have alcohol on regular basis. Have alcohol but restrict yourself to one or two drinks.
Have sufficient water:
Water will help you to keep away from dehydration and will also flush out toxins. Consumption of coffee and alcohol can lead to dehydration. To protect yourself have plenty of water.
Exercise:
Make exercise a habit. It may be on a regular day or a holiday; you should take out time to exercise and burn out extra calories. Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean high intensity exercise, jog or brisk walk for 30 minutes will suffice.
