“A salad a day keeps the illnesses away”, this is a well said quote by many health experts over the world. Salad is a mixture of vegetables as well as fruits. It can be prepared raw or can be cooked. Salads can also be presented either with or without dressings. No healthy diet can be completed without the presence of salad made with green vegetables. Mainly, green vegetables are the main and focus point of the salads as the decoration and presentation of salads depends over it.

Benefits

Salads are served before or with meals. As salads are appetizers so one who wants to reduce weight can take the help of salads to get the desired goal. The additional health benefits of salads are that they are raw and all the proteins, vitamins and minerals are kept secured. Salads are low in calories and sodium so, it also maintains the level of cholesterol.

If you want to improve your nutritional status then taking a salad a day is the best option. A research shows that about 40-50% of American depends over salads to stay fit. Raw vegetable salad contains fiber which is essential for the easy digestion of food. The antioxidants of salads are also good for boosting immune system.

A variety of veggies are used to prepare salad greens. Green vegetables came under the category of salad greens. Lettuce, spinach, broccoli and romaine are the most usable items of green salads. Green salad is the main weapon which is used against extra kilos. The elements used in salads refresh the liver and aids digestion. It also helps to clean the blood vessels. The salad green has iodine, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and copper.

The vitamins present in the salads helps the body to fight against infections. It also helps to overcome stress. It also helps to maintain the activity of endocrine glands. So, eat the salads in good amount and get a healthy body.
