We all know that fruits are essential for a healthy diet, be it in any form like juice, snacks, dried, organic or frozen. Since these all contain fruits they would be as nutritious as the whole fruit itself. This is not exactly the case, mentioned below is your guide to the best form of fruits available for a better and healthy living:
Avoid Drinking and prefer eating your fruits as whole fruits are fewer in calories and high in fibre.
Organic fruit – How good is it for your health? The price of organic fruits is a huge factor for many people; hence you should know that nutrients in organic and inorganic fruits are similar. If you think about harmful effects of pesticides, the thumb rule is that you buy organic fruits which have thin skin, principally if you eat them frequently.
For most of us, these fruits are grapes and apples. The reason is that fruits with thin skin are highly prone to soak up insect killer remains than fruits which have thick skin, which are the likes of orange and banana.
Choose only snacks which contain 100% fruit : If there is a picture of fruit on the packet it doesn’t mean that the snack actually contains the fruit. Many snacks can claim to have whole fruits but most of them contain juice and extra sugar which load up the snack with extra calories. So if the snack contains 100 calories instead of 60 calories of the whole fruit it has some ingredients that add extra calories in the snack.
What are other choices for a dried fruit? Whole fruits help you burn calories as they are rich in water content and help you stay motivated. Dried fruits are made with taking out water, but these dry fruits are not completely without water, hence having 2-3 dry fruits in a day won’t do harm. While dried fruits are rich in nutrient, they are also loaded with calories. Hence you can have 2-3 dried fruits as these are high in nutrients.
Frozen v/s fresh fruits: If you want to have seasonal fruits round the year make sure they don’t contain any sugar. Berries which are frozen are a great option, they are squishier and you can have them with cereal or as whole. It’s economical and healthy.
