Getting Energised When You Need It
Mentioned below are some tips that will help you remaining energetic when you are more prone to fatigue:
Wake Up: Instead of staying in bed for long, get up immediately and come in light. Research says your body will force you to stay in bed for long, but when you come in light as soon as you get up, you will feel better and more energized.
Make sure you get 30 minutes of nice light as soon as you get up. You can do that easily by taking a small stroll once you get up. If you work in nights and your day starts in pm, make sure your light up your room when you get up.
Eat Right: Don’t fill yourself with carbs, take enough protein as well.
Carbohydrates if taken in high quantity can act as an energy drain. Research shows people who reduce their carb intake and raise their protein consumption feel more energetic. Limit your daily carb intake to around 150 grams.
Time to have coffee: Don’t have coffee first thing in the morning; instead try having a latte in the afternoon. That is when you start feeling exhausted and caffeine will help you stay alert for long. Try to have a cup in the late afternoon, as that is the time when you start feeling sleepy.
Right time to Eat: Don’t eat all day long, and try eating at the same time each day. Your schedule tends to be closely related with your calorie needs. If your body expects breakfast at 7 in the morning and get it at 12 noon instead, it will obviously become lethargic.
Ease Stress: Don’t meditate for 20 minutes at a stretch and take short more frequent sessions. Meditating even for 3 minutes can decrease stress. It helps raise endorphins as well. They are also to fit in your schedule instead of finding 20 minutes spare to meditate in a go.
Tackle the afternoon slump: Instead of taking a power nap go for a stroll. As it is helpful in the morning, light works wonders in the afternoon as well. Take a short walk in the sunlight to get your energy back. If you can do some work that will take you out of the office or home. If you can’t step out, sit near a window for some time.
Be energized before working out: Try music instead of a snack. No doubt exercise is the best energy booster but you do need energy to do your workout. Try music along with your workout and you wouldn’t even realize how smooth your workout has been.
Before Bed: Instead of browsing the net try reading a book or watching television. Limit the exposure to the light coming from your computer screen late at night, as this is bright and it will confuse your body with sunlight. You can watch TV instead; make sure you maintain a distance of 15 feet at least from the screen. An even better option is reading; make sure you read in not more than light of 60 watts.
