The best way to lose weight is by choosing a natural and healthy option. What else can be more natural and healthier than fruits and vegetables. By just increasing the amount of fruits and veggies you consume you can lead a healthier and lighter life.
By fruits and vegetables; I’m not pointing to a vegan diet (a crash diet can never be healthy and doesn’t yield desired long term results). Just by adding 3-4 serving of fruits and veggies a day can be magical for your overall health and fitness.
Fruits and vegetables help in digestion, rise your metabolic rate, help your body process sugar better besides it is also healthy and if chosen properly low in calorie.
Fruits:
Fruits tend to realise energy as they store carbohydrates and helps in breaking down food. The best fruits to include in your diet are: apples, strawberries, blueberries, grapefruit, pears, oranges, papaya, blackberries, guava, and cantaloupe.
Vegetables:
Vegetables are healthy, like fruits, are a rich source of nutrients. One main advantage of veggies over fruits is that they are a complex carbohydrate. Your body doesn’t convert complex carbohydrates easily. Number of calories you get in raw veggies is lesser than fruits. It is advisable to eat vegetables raw or steamed (without oil or butter).
The veggies which must be a part of your diet are green beans, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, celery, cabbage, lettuce, onions, tomato, zucchini, turnip greens, turnips, artichokes, sprouts, collard greens, leeks, eggplant, kale, okra, scallions, summer squash and spinach.
Helping control your weight is not the only benefit of eating more fruits and vegetables, these diets avert risk of a lot of diseases like some types of cancer and other chronic diseases. We also get essential vitamins and minerals, fibre and other substances from fruits and veggies that are important for good health.
The best thing about this diet besides the fact that its healthy and natural, is that fruits and vegetable are available almost everywhere. You don’t need to take out extra time to prepare a meal if you eat raw fruits and veggies. Once you get accustomed to this diet there will be no looking back.
