Eat Right to Exercise Right
There are some indisputable gifts that are associated with exercise. But the fact is what and how you eat between your workouts can have big impact on the performance which you have during your workout.
If you need the best possible results from your workout you need to be sure of what is good for your diet. Mentioned below are some strategies one should follow if you want to exercise successfully.
Recovery is important: Recovery is not only all about what you eat after a workout, when you eat a meal is also of immense importance. It is considered best to refill the glycogen store of your body within 30-40 minutes post workout.
For perfect recovery, you should drink or have a snack in the ratio of 4-to-1 (carbs to proteins). If you exercise more than 60 minutes you should have extra dose of carb and protein in form of healthy smoothies, chocolate milk, peanut butter sandwich etc.
Eating throughout day: This would help keep you energized during the day. Make sure you have 5-6 healthy and small meals in a day. By this you can spread your calories across the day instead of accumulating it in 3 major meals.
Decode and assess your needs: Whatever fitness or nutrition experts suggest you need to assess what your body requires and work your way accordingly. Keep a fitness or nutrition journal and track your progress, see what works well for you. No exercise program comes in a fit-all mode, what you need is a customized routine. If you can’t assess your own needs consult an expert, but never follow what everyone else is; just because it is working great for them doesn’t necessarily mean it will for you as well.
Keep hydration formula in mind: Experts suggest that the best available energy or sports drinks come with 6 – 8 % carb solutions. Research has shown that the energy and sport drinks ease the extremely efficient rate of re-hydration as well as electrolyte absorption. This means that the diluting process of your Gatorade because it is extremely sweet and it negates the entire purpose of having a drink. Do experiment as it might work for you but don’t drink every fancy thing kept in the grocery store.
