Diet by Eating Out

People who watch their weight generally feel scared of eating out, they feel deprived when they see someone enjoying a meal out of their houses. You should not completely avoid dining out; if you keep your basics right and keep a track of the calories you consume.

While eating out, make sure you start your meal with a glass full of water. If you feel water is extremely bland you can add a dash of lime for some flavor. This would be zero in the calorie content but it would fill you up. Ordering a soup (broth based) is a great option to fill you up.

Do not order complete bread basket, order one roll instead, don’t add butter and extra calories. If you are eating Italian Cuisine you can add a dash of olive oil instead of butter on your roll.

Try having salad along with soup; make sure the dressing you choose is low fat and low calories. Do not pour your dressing on the salad but use a fork to dip the salad in the dressing/sauces.

Do not order a big meal instead you can order two small side dishes. You should at least choose one vegetarian dish if not both. You should be sure you select low calorie food and not high fat and calorie dishes. If you order your favourite potatoes as a side dish you should not load it up with sour crème or butter. You can top your potatoes with salsa sauce or chili flakes.

When you order shakes or ice crème order the low fat options, or low fat yogurt. A fruit smoothie is also a good option to order. Make sure you see that no added ingredients are used in these, when you order. Keep these points in mind when you order dessert and don’t have the entire dessert; you can share a single dessert.

When you order chicken/vegetable, try roasted chicken/vegetable and not the fried one. When you order pasta, don’t order cream based pasta instead have tomato based pasta. You can add spices, herbs and lime for taste.

If you are going out to eat breakfast, having yogurt and fruits is a good option (low fat with no sugar). While ordering toast; do not add butter; as the egg you would be consuming would be cooked in butter.  Order only a single slice of toast as if you order more than one, if you order more than one, you would be tempted to eat more than one toast. While ordering bacon try turkey and not pork.
