Dehydration and Metabolism

Dehydration and metabolism are directly related. Hence when people suggest that you should drink around 8-10 glasses of water daily, they actually want your good.

Many people can’t think of drinking so much water as they feel water is completely bland and they hate to gulp that stuff down their throat. What you shouldn’t forget is that water is extremely essential if you want a healthy and fit body. The importance of water rises especially when your aim is to lose weight; it is one and the easiest way to lose weight and stay healthy.

If you don’t have enough water your metabolism dips and your efforts for losing weight don’t yield the kind of results they should. When you are on a diet, you should drink a lot of water. There isn’t any amount of water which is prescribed for all, but around 8-10 glasses are recommended. Though all of us know how important water is, we often tend to neglect the importance of water. If we truly understand what dehydration can do to our metabolism and how being thirsty can actually make us eat more, you would never underestimate its importance.

Our system gives us signals when we require water. As kids we know when we want something to drink but as we grow old, we find it difficult to discriminate between hunger and thirst. When we think we are hungry at times it is actually thirst and not hunger. Hence it is recommended that when you have an urge to eat something in between meal, you should drink a large glass of water. This will subside your hunger pangs to a great extent.

Even if your body is a little dehydrated, your metabolism slows down to a great extent, and this poses a great problem to your weight loss initiative. Water will also keep the joints lubricated as they carry toxins from your body. This might make you feel stiff and make you lethargic which might stop you from exercising.

Age slows down metabolism and water will help you maintain a better level. Even if you don’t exercise your metabolism slows down. When your body gets ample amount of water, it and you exercise well your metabolism is maintained at a high level.

As the intake of water rises you should remain fit and healthy, make sure you don’t gulp all the amount of daily water intake in a go. Make sure when you exercise, you take sips of water often and don’t gulp it down at once.
