Dangerous Diet Trends

New Year is approaching and we all want to lose the gained weight to look and appear the best in our party dress. We tend to fall in many diet traps which can be extremely harmful for our heath.

Diets one should avoid are:

Raw Food’s Diet

When you are on a raw food based diet most of your calories are consumed from uncooked food. Supporters of this diet say that if we eat food above around 116° F, it tends to destroy the enzymes that give many health benefits. We shouldn’t also overlook the fact that processing of food actually enhances the availability of some important nutrients.

Raw diet can be high in plant-based food, this is great but restricting yourself to just becomes an extremely complicated affair as food becomes a complicated affair. Even when ‘prepared raw food’ is available; it is too highly priced.

It does promote weight loss at the same time caloric content is not related to processing or heating the food we eat.  If you want a low fat diet eat lots of vegetable and fruits but include variety in your diet.

hCG Diets

This is an extremely low calorie diet plan (just 500-800 calories daily) it is obviously supplemented with some hCG with injections (human chorionic gonadotropin). Needless to say that if your diet goes below 1,000 calorie, it becomes extremely unsafe for most of us. Obviously you must have heard of the popular phrase – the faster it goes the more likely it is to come back (which is true for our weight as well). Researchers don’t believe the hCG diet is a safe bet.

The Master Cleansing Diet

This is a big hit in South California. In here they mix lemon juice, maple’s syrup, plus some cayenne pepper. They drink this concoction many times in a day (this cycle continues for 10 days). They begin their day with a quarter of salt containing water and in the night they drink some laxative herbal tea.

In this diet you can have maximum about 1,300 calories in a day; you diet is without any important nutrient your body needs. Dieters trying this one lose lean mass and no fat, this might please them on the weighing scale, but fact is to lose weight healthily you should have more lean mass and less fat.

Cabbage Soup Diet- (all one food diets)

Rumours believe that this diet was developed by some American health association which is completely baseless.

This diet has many versions one common thing is that you need to have cabbage soup on all the 7 days of your diet. One this is for sure that this is better than many fad diets, still if you have been a foodie or are a social person to some extend this diet would be a huge challenge to follow.

Ear Staple Diet

This is a relatively new form of fad diet, based on acupressure theory that a part of our ear controls the appetite, if it is punctured or stapled we tend to eat less.

Research doesn’t prove that ear stapling helps in losing weight, what it does prove is that it can cause a whole lot of infections. If you need to curb your diet a simpler and sure shot way is to eat more fruits and veggies.

Breatharian Diet

This diet boosts that you have to live on no food and water – only on air. Well needless to say that it doesn’t work as it shatters our entire nutrition theory.
