Childhood Obesity
Obesity is a term which indicates the collection of excessive fat in the body. Childhood obesity can be defined when weight is 120 percent more than height. Every child gain weight with their age but a child getting extra pounds more than he/she needed is affected with childhood obesity.
Childhood obesity is becoming most common in UK. About 10% of children in the world are obese or overweight. In USA, children are becoming obese at higher rate. The number of obese children is increasing rapidly in the Canada. There are 1 out of 4 children suffering from obesity.
Obesity can further give way to severe problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep disorders, cancer and health disorders. According to a survey in 2008, experts say that obese children can be easily affected with the carotid arthritis.
Reasons of Obesity
There are many reasons which can give way to obesity. The kids who are spending very less time in physical activities such as excising, cycling, walking and running are more prone to obesity. Kids indulge in video games and surfing net in place of outdoor games such as cricket, football or volleyball, are at the higher risk of affecting with obesity.
Also, the families who have lesser time to prepare nutritious and home-cooked meals depend over the fast foods. These foods are low in nutrition and have high amount of calories and it also makes the person obese. Consumption of soft drink can give way to obesity. In some cases, genetic reasons are making the children obese. Nearly, 6% to 75% of children having obese parents are more prone to obesity.
Treatment
One of the best ways to combat the problem is to take a look over what the child intake as the calorie intake should be lessen than the calorie burn. To burn calorie one should exercise daily and also do physical work.
