If you are working hard to lose weight then you should have to be very selective while choosing the drink you are having. Try to have low-sugar, low-calorie drinks that may quench your thirst, satisfy your taste buds and also cool you down.
Sports drink contains calories: Yes! It’s true that sports drinks have hidden calories. However, it may sound healthy, vitamins, energy and sports drinks can accumulate more calories than you can even think of. It’s true that sports drinks stock up electrolytes, water and sugars, but it is not meant for moderate exercise or workout.
Best time to have sports drink is when you body really need it after a strenuous workout session, which lasts for 1-1.5 hours. Though these type drinks may seem relatively light weight, whilst calorie count can be on the higher side. On an average, a 20-ounce can of sports drink contains approximately 150-200 calories.
Reduce the intake of coffee and sodas: Ice-sodas are another favorite drink in summer. Do you know that a twelve-ounce can of soda contains as much as 150 calories and some 40 grams of sugar? Just by consuming 100 calories extra in day you can gain at least 10 pounds in a year. So avoid having empty calories and work toward your aim to lose weight.
Coffee is another rich source of calories. The fat and calorie content of coffee can be as high as 28 grams of fat and 700 calories. If you want to have coffees then watch your intake and go for smaller size and without any whipped cream or any other add-ons.
Say no to fruit smoothies: Fruit smoothies are another drink that may sound healthy and delicious but unfortunately it’s not at all healthy. Just check this; 16 ounce of fruit smoothie contains approximately 300 calories, adding to this it contains close to 60 grams of sugar. Large sized smoothies can contain 600-700 calories.
