Anti-Inflammatory Diet

August 5, 2009

Inflammation is a condition of swelling, pain, redness and heat in the infected organs or tissues. In lay man’s words it is the way in which our body reacts to injury.

Unsatisfactory dietary pattern can also lead to inflammation including arthritis and many auto immune diseases. Currently there is a rise in the focus on diet plans that help to end the inflammation cycle and its consequences.

Though inflammation is painful, it has a healing response. Sometimes it may cause a chronic state which lingers on, in this condition it can incline us to conditions like metabolic syndrome, arthritis, coronary artery disease, cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Inflammation can be caused due to several factors like chronic infection, unhealthy diet, disease, injuries or irritation. Inflammation gives birth to free radical, which can originate cellular damages or oxidative stress condition in the long term it might lead to imbalanced immune system.

You can avert inflammatory condition by following an anti inflammation diet:

Keeping a healthy weight level is the best way to keep chronic inflammation at bay. If your body is loaded with fat you would be more prone to inflammation.

An Anti-Inflammation diet means a diet full of antioxidants which is rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grain and beans which are rich in fibre; these all help in preventing and reducing inflammatory conditions in our body.  Several research reveal that a diet of the Mediterranean style, which lower the level of a type of protein called C-REACTIVE is an Anti-Inflammation diet.

If your diet is rich in Omega 3 fats besides other kind of fat, this brings down the harmones that raise inflammation. These are present in fat rich fish like Salmon, walnut, flaxseed as well as canola oil.

If you are regular at exercising you would be less prone to inflammation. Being active and exercising is a perfect way not only to maintain a healthy weight but also works wonders as an anti inflammation strategy.

Chondroitin, Sulfur and glucosamine are some supplements are readily available in the market to avoid inflammation. One must remember they don’t target the root cause of inflammation but only alleviate the symptoms.

If you have multi vitamin supplements instead you would get the right amount of nutrition your body needs.

An anti inflammation lifestyle will not only reduce the symptoms and risks but also make you lead a healthy lifestyle.
