10 Excuses For Not Exercising

1. I hate working out:
If you hate what you do while working out, you wouldn’t be able to successfully carry own your workout regime for long. Try opting for an exercise program which you love, it can range from walking to swimming to dancing. The key should be that you should enjoy what you do. 

2. You always end up quitting your exercise regime, whenever you start something new:

When people initiate working out, out of enthusiasm they tend to go over board and do high intensity workouts without any recovery days in between. They end up quitting as they can’t take the pressure for long. They quit the moment their enthusiasm dips.

3. You can’t afford working out:

You don’t necessarily need a gym or club membership when you want to start working out. Walking doesn’t need any money, dumbbells come cheap, and you can invest in home exercise videos. There are various options available where you won’t need to shed a lot of money.

4. You don’t see any change in your body:

People want to see effects of exercise after a single session. You weight gain didn’t happen overnight and neither will weight loss. You need to give your body around 12 weeks to notice changes.

5. You shouldn’t exercise because you don’t know how to:

If you can’t afford to have a personal trainer, there is loads of information available in today’s day and age. You can use television, internet, books, videos etc. Fitness has become such a hot topic these days, that there is not dearth of information on this particular topic.

6. You have to take care of the family and don’t have time for exercise:

Make being healthy and exercise a part of the family routine. If you have very small kids, choose a gym or club which has a day care centre. Use exercise videos to workout, this would make you utilize time in a better manner.

7. You aren’t motivated enough to work out:

If your workouts make you feel bored and stressed with your exercise routine, you won’t be able to continue for long. Try and change your workout routine every 4-6 weeks to keep monotony at bay. Make sure you repeat your fitness goals in your mind every day.

8. Exercise will lead to injury:

You won’t get hurt if you exercise correctly. While doing your cardio workout, you should make sure you maintain your required heart rate. You should be able to carry on a conversation while working out and you shouldn’t end up breathless. While strength training, as your lean body tissues have to grow, you need to put in an extra effort and challenge yourself. Choose the weights which you have to put an effort to lift 12 times, there shouldn’t be any pain though.

9. Can’t commit to stick to your workout:

It becomes overwhelming when you view exercise as a long term goal. You shouldn’t challenge yourself, try keeping your goals small and try making your daily routine active.

10. You don’t have time:

Choose a time when you are comparatively free.

If you don’t have 30 minutes at a stretch cut them into 10-15 minutes breaks.

Make activity a part of life, take stairs, walk longer, etc.

Track your workout and stay motivated.

Exercise gives your body energy which will give you more energy to carry on your daily routine.
